Under Development was started by a couple guys who had had enough of the rat race... With experience in product design & development and large quantity manufacturing we thought the Beerbelly was a great place for a new beginning. We hope you can tell that we are having a blast... Still working full time jobs in the high tech world, but hoping to one day develop enough products for this be be a real job... if you can call this a real job!
People ask about how we came up with the idea... so here's the story:
The Beerbelly was developed by accident or maybe better said, as a joke. Ted and I were having a few beers and joking about how we used to sneak drinks into places... being both closet inventors or maybe a bit more, and probably having had a few more beers than we care to admit, the next thing we know, we are cutting up one of my $300+ wetsuits used for surfing and stuffing a CamelBak bladder in the front and cracking up.
That was the birth of The Beerbelly(R).
Well we dismissed the idea as a funny ending to the day... but a few people heard about our crazy idea and wanted to buy one... so we got lucky in meeting a clothing designer to help us with the best fit design and started selling them.
One thing lead to another, kind of like one beer leads to another, and the next thing you know we're on CNN talking about The Beerbelly. The closing question from Jeanne Moos, "was what's next?" again joking around, I said the WineRack.
Well the next thing you know the phone is ring off the hook so we got started on the WineRack.
We have to admit that after 25 years of developing products, the WineRack was by FAR the most difficult project we have yet to work on, but it sure has been fun too!
